I've got a fox in my yard! (Or is Incubation broken?)

Topic

I tried to give eggs to the chicken in my house yard for incubation. After I requested incubation and selected the egg, the chicken sat for just a second or less and then got right up. It then made vagues references to having popped the egg, but NO CHICK/BUTTERFLY (in the yard or my bags).

My question: Is the chicken in my yard a fox in disguise? Or should I just find some other chicken to sit on my one remaining egg?

Hm, guess what, the caterpillar appeared (second egg) in my bag a few minutes later after the post.

My first egg (chicken) is still MIA though.

My chick that comes with house went POOF overnight.........Never grew him ....
