Frying new recipes

I tried to make up a new recipe with the frying pan
The "try it" button didn't seem to do anything
And then when I tried to fry known recipes it said "that doesn't work" as if I was trying to make one up
I reloaded the game and it worked again
I didn't get chance to try to reproduce as GOD sent us away :o(
