[awaiting player response] Keyboard freeze

Several times today I was playing and my avatar stopped responding to keyboard commands. I was reduced to using the mouse (which isn't so much fun. How do you jump, for example?).

This started *after* I downloaded the latest Flash beta, and first happened in Chrome and then in Firefox.

It would right itself after a seemingly random period, but a reload didn't always seem to fix it.

  • I also experienced the arrow keys not working a couple of times yesterday. It first happened in Firefox, and when reloading didn't help, I switched to Safari, which solved the problem. A few hours later, on a different computer, the keyboard controls didn't work when I loaded the game in Safari, but then switching back to Firefox did the trick.

In both cases, I'd downloaded the latest Flash beta before playing.

  • I had this happen for about 30 seconds when I entered the game for the first time. It would show the little press right arrow key hit, but it didn't do anything. I was able to move by clicking.

  • Do you (any of you) remember what you were doing before things froze up? Interacting with any specific type of object, or was it right after going from one street to the next?

  • For me, I was still at the very, very, beginning of the tutorial (still surrounded by neurons -- once I got out of the brain it was fine), so no... I hadn't done anything else. Is it possible that the game was still loading assets in the background, and that's what made it less responsive?

  • I would get that almost every time I re-entered the game, and often after moving to a new location. Each time I would click in the direction I wanted to go in and then the keyboard arrows would work.

  • It did it to me after typing in chat (tried clicking on the game screen), after being idle, maybe when I levelled. Someone else said after idling. I tried idling for 30 seconds once and didn't get it to happen.
